Buying a buffet

The terms are often used for the same piece. A buffet traditionally describes a storage unit used in a dining room to hold tableware and serve from. A sideboard is the same form used more broadly across the home. Our range covers both uses.

Solid oak and walnut are the most durable choices and the ones we build with. Both handle daily use, hold their finish and age well. Wipe spills promptly and keep the surface out of direct sun to preserve the colour.

Most buffets combine drawers and cupboards behind doors. Drawers suit cutlery and linen, while cupboard space holds larger serving pieces. The exact configuration is listed on each product page.

Most buffets sit between 75 and 85cm high, close to dining table height, which makes the top useful for serving. Depth is usually around 40 to 50cm. Full dimensions are shown on each product page.

Yes. A buffet works well in a hallway, living room or entrance as considered storage. The same piece can hold linen, books or everyday items depending on the room it sits in.
