Choosing a Bed Frame

Bed frame height affects the feel of the room significantly. A lower platform bed at 25–30cm creates a relaxed, horizontal quality. A higher bed at 35–40cm is easier to get in and out of and suits more traditional rooms. The combined height of frame and mattress should also work practically, you shouldn't have to climb into bed or drop down into it.

Many of our bed frames include an integrated headboard. Where the headboard is sold separately, this is clearly noted in the listing. A separate headboard gives you more flexibility, you can mix and match or upgrade the headboard independently of the frame.

Upholstered bed frames have a softer, warmer quality, they absorb sound and create a more enclosed, cocooning feel in the room. Timber bed frames have more structural visual presence and suit rooms with other natural material pieces. The choice often comes down to the overall material palette of the bedroom.

Most of our bed frames require a slatted base, which is sold separately unless otherwise specified. A slatted base provides better airflow beneath the mattress and extends mattress life compared to a solid base. Some models include a base, this is noted clearly in the product description.

Our bed frames are available in single (92cm), double (138cm), queen (153cm) and king (183cm) widths. Not all models are available in all sizes, check the individual product listing for the options on each frame. King size is worth considering if your room allows; the additional width is noticeable in everyday use.
