Choosing a wardrobe

Start with capacity and layout, hanging space, shelving and drawer combinations, then work backwards from what you actually need to store. Look for solid construction, considered proportions for the room, and a finish that will hold its colour and grain over time rather than a laminate that dates quickly.

Solid oak and engineered oak veneer over a stable core hold up best over years of daily use, resisting warping and wear at hinges and runners. Look for dovetail or reinforced drawer joints and soft-close hardware, details that separate a wardrobe built to last from one built to a price point.

As a rough guide, allow around one metre of hanging rail per person for everyday clothing, plus additional shelving for folded items. Larger wardrobes with a mix of hanging, shelving and drawers suit households that want everything in one piece rather than spread across multiple units.

Freestanding wardrobes offer flexibility, you can move them, take them with you, and rearrange a room without renovation. Built-in wardrobes make the most of every inch of an awkward space but are fixed. Most of our range is freestanding, designed to feel as considered as a built-in piece.

Yes. Wardrobes work well in hallways, home offices, nurseries and guest rooms, wherever hanging and enclosed storage is needed. Choose a scale and finish that suits the room rather than assuming a wardrobe is bedroom-only.

This varies by piece. Most larger wardrobes are delivered part-assembled, with our team completing final assembly and placement in the room. Smaller pieces may arrive flat-packed with clear instructions. Delivery details are listed on each product page.
