Rectangular Dining Tables

Allow roughly 60-70cm of table length per seated guest, plus at least 90cm of clearance around the table for chairs to pull out and people to move past comfortably.

Generally yes, a rectangular table seats more people per metre of room length than a round table of similar footprint, making it the more space-efficient choice for a longer dining wall.

Four-leg bases offer the most stability for everyday use, while pedestal or trestle bases free up legroom along the sides where people sit, worth considering if you regularly seat a full table.

Some of our rectangular dining tables include a concealed extension mechanism to add length for larger gatherings, check the individual product page for extendable options.

Solid oak, ceramic and mango wood tops handle daily use, spills and heat well. Marble and lacquered finishes look striking but need a little more care around scratches and acidic spills.
