Tips for Choosing The Right Sofa

Fabric sofas are generally softer to the touch, available in a wider range of colours and textures, and easier to re-upholster. Leather develops a patina over time and is easier to wipe clean. Both age well when the quality is there, the choice usually comes down to how you live, not just how you want the room to look.

A well-made sofa from honest materials should last 10–15 years with normal use. The three things that determine longevity are frame construction, cushion density and fabric quality. Our sofas are built to those standards. The fill type matters too, high-density foam holds its shape longer than low-density; feather-fill requires more maintenance but can be replenished.

Several pieces in our range offer removable, washable covers, these are noted in the individual product descriptions. A removable cover changes the relationship between a sofa and its owner, making maintenance easier, repairs more affordable, and a refresh possible without replacing the whole piece.

Yes, fabric samples are available to order free of charge from our website. We'd always recommend requesting samples before committing to a sofa. Colour and texture read very differently on a screen than they do in your own home, in your own light. The sample service exists precisely for this reason.

Allow at least 90cm of clearance in front of your sofa for comfortable movement, and 45cm on each side where possible. Measure your doorways and hallways before you buy, most sofas are delivered in sections but it's worth confirming with our team for larger models. The sofa shouldn't fill the room; it should anchor it.
