CAMUS - Oak Bookcase with Ladder

$2,699 $2,999

The Camus bookcase combines oak veneer compartments with a powder-coated steel ladder that slides along horizontal rails. Eighteen open cubbies offer flexible storage for books, objects and plants. The ladder adds vertical access and a reference to traditional library furniture, reimagined in a contemporary form.

The Designer

Hélèna Pille

Trained in applied arts and a lover of wood, Hélèna Pille began her career at Sylvain Joly Design before joining the Habitat studio in 2011. Since then she has designed close to 20 collections for the brand, becoming a defining figure in Habitat's creative DNA. Drawn to architecture and fine materials, she imagines furniture that is enduring and functional, with a preference for well-considered storage and clean lines. Among her iconic collections are Ivoine, a solid oak collection with a minimalist, Scandinavian-inspired design, and Camus, an elegant bookcase that has become a house reference. Today she also designs the Milord collection, inspired by bas-relief and Mediterranean architecture, where sculpted volumes meet formal restraint.

The Camus collection

Let the grid guide you but not dictate. Stack books in some cubbies, leave others open, and punctuate the arrangement with sculptural ceramics or trailing plants. The ladder adds rhythm, so lean into it. Surround the piece with low seating and natural textures to let the bookcase command the room without overwhelming it.
